About and Sources

What this site is, where every number comes from, how the sums are made, and what is not covered.

What This Site Is

coc.tools is one page per Town Hall in Clash of Clans, from 3 to 18: what the level unlocks, what it costs to max, which equipment is recommended for each hero, base layouts, and the full game data for troops, spells, siege machines, pets, heroes, equipment and buildings. Every troop, building and hero has its own page, and a progress tracker adds up what is left for your village. Besides the Home Village there are pages for the Builder Base, the Clan Capital, magic items, leagues and wars (Ranked Battles, Clan Wars, Clan War Leagues, Clan Games, clan perks and donations) and achievements, an army planner, an overview of hero equipment with the ore left per piece, the Goblin campaign and balance changes per date.

This is a fan site. It is unofficial and not endorsed by Supercell. There is no paywall, no account and nothing for sale. If the site helps you, you can support it with a donation; you get nothing extra for it and the site stays the same for everyone. Rumours, leaks and unannounced content stay off the site; the news section only carries what Supercell announced itself.

Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies.

Short attack guides, one army per video with its sources in the description, are on the coc.tools YouTube channel.

Sources and Licences

Game data
Levels, costs, times, hitpoints, damage, capacities and unlock requirements come from the Clash of Clans Wiki on Fandom, written by its community and published under CC BY-SA 3.0. The wiki is read again every week and the data on this site is rebuilt from it; the date of the last fetch is in the footer of each page.
Descriptions
The summary, offensive and defensive strategies, upgrade differences, update history and trivia on each troop, spell, siege machine, pet, building and hero page come from the matching page of the Clash of Clans Wiki (CC BY-SA 3.0), adapted to plain text and linked at the bottom of each page. Lines about game-file findings, leaks or unreleased content are left out. The card on the Town Hall itself on each Town Hall page (hitpoints, storage, boost, weapon, what the next Town Hall asks for, the loot table) and the magic items page, with their icons, come from the wiki's Town Hall and Magic Items pages in the same way. So does everything on the Builder Base and Clan Capital pages: levels, costs, times, counts, text and images of each building, trap, troop, spell and hero there. The leagues and wars page takes its tables and text from the wiki's Ranked Battles, Clan Wars, Clan War Leagues, Clan Games, Clan Perks and Clans pages; the level a donated troop or spell arrives at combines the wiki's Clan Castle table with the Laboratory level each upgrade asks for; its Clan Games tiers are those of the last Clan Games the wiki lists. The achievements page takes every achievement, its requirements, XP and gems from the wiki's Achievements table; the gem totals leave out the one the wiki marks as obsolete. The Goblin campaign takes its levels, loot and notes from the wiki's Single Player Campaign page; the loot adds up to the wiki's own total. The Clan Capital wall costs per district follow the wiki's own table for all walls of a district. The balance changes page gathers the dated lines of the History section of every troop, spell, siege machine, pet, hero, equipment and building page of the wiki from the last two years; undated lines are left out. "Only what counts at your Town Hall", there and in the news section of each Town Hall page, leaves out what does not exist at that Town Hall, new levels above its cap, and Supercharges below Town Hall 18 (the wiki: they can be attained at Town Hall 18). The tracker's super troop card reads each super troop's boost rule (base troop level, Dark Elixir, days) from its wiki text. The Forge card on the Clan Capital page takes its Capital Gold, slots, costs and times from the wiki's Forge page and applies your Gold Pass builder boost the same way as the tracker.
Art
Town Hall art, hero portraits, pets, troop, spell, siege machine and equipment icons, resource and ore icons come from the Supercell Fankit and are used under Supercell's Fan Content Policy (27 September 2023). The village panorama, the wood, tile, shield and emblem patterns, the top bar and the gold title ribbon come from the Supercell Store, under the same policy. The per-level images of buildings come from the Fankit too; those of troops, siege machines and heroes come from the Clash of Clans Wiki, which hosts them as Supercell art, under the same policy. So do the three icons the Fankit does not have: the Super Wizard Tower, Noble Iron and the Meteor Golem. The banner logo and the app icons are this site's own.
Base layouts
Links to clashofclans-layouts.com, with the rating and view count shown there. No base images or copy links are reproduced without the builder's permission; each layout page points to its source. The Builder Base layouts on the Builder Base page are links to the same site, nothing more; layouts that site has not changed since before the Builder Base update of May 2023 are left out. Layouts with a "Copy to the game" button are links that creators shared themselves in a video description or guide from 2026 (link.clashofclans.com opens the layout in the game); the source is linked on the page.
Recommendations
Only guides and videos from 2026 count. The community upgrade orders summarise them with their date under each list; Town Hall 3 to 5 have no list, because no 2026 source gives an order there. The recommended hero equipment summarises them too, with every source listed on the hero page. The attack strategies per Town Hall summarise them with every source and its date under the strategy; only troops, spells and siege machines that exist at that Town Hall are listed, and a strategy with a single source is marked "1 source". On 13 October 2026 the upgrade orders and attack strategies were rebuilt from 2026 sources only: every step, reason and army line was checked against a quote from its source, and armies no 2026 source supports were removed. Where sources disagree, the list follows the source that ranks explicitly, or the newest one. The Builder Base attack strategies and the Clan Capital raid strategies and raid tips follow the same rule; troops a source names only for a higher Builder Hall are left out at the lower ones, and a site that republished another site's list, or names spells the Clan Capital does not have, is left out. The defending Clan Castle troops per Town Hall come from 2026 test results, with the source under the list. They are not game rules and not the only workable choice.
Your village
On Your Village (or "Load my village" on a Town Hall page) you load your village with your player tag. This reads your village through the official Clash of Clans API by Supercell, via the RoyaleAPI proxy (the API key is bound to one address). Only your player tag is sent; the answer is kept for five minutes on the server and the levels are stored in your browser, nothing else. The API gives heroes, troops, spells, siege machines, pets, equipment and your achievement stars; buildings, walls and traps are not in it. For those, paste the export from the game (Settings, More Settings, Export village data in JSON format) into the tracker on a Town Hall page: it is read in your browser and not sent anywhere, and it brings your Builder Base and the upgrades that are running. Loading another player tag or another export starts its own village: you switch between your villages in the tracker, and each keeps its own levels, plan settings, magic items and budget in this browser.
Obstacles
Everything on Obstacles comes from the Obstacles pages of the Clash of Clans Wiki (CC BY-SA 3.0): the cost, time and reward of each obstacle, and the two fixed cycles in which ordinary obstacles give their gems. Checked every week.
Trader
The offers on Magic Items come from the Trader page of the Clash of Clans Wiki (CC BY-SA 3.0) and are checked every week. The wiki lists a fixed set of offers with a quantity per week and gives no day or time for the weekly refresh, so neither do we.
Supercharges
The supercharge levels at Town Hall 18 (cost, time, hitpoints) come from the Supercharge page of the Clash of Clans Wiki (CC BY-SA 3.0), with each building's own page where the overview table is broken, refreshed every week. The wiki notes that supercharges are removed when a building gets a new level; the Supercharges page shows which ones it marks as about to go.
News
Only announcements by Supercell (official channel, blog, in-game news, or a Supercell statement read out verbatim by a creator), with source and date. Checked daily.
Videos and season calendar
The board on the home page shows the newest videos of the official Clash of Clans channel and of six Clash creators (Clash Ninja, Termynater, ShocK_Games, Judo Sloth Gaming, iTzu, BDLegend), refreshed every day. Videos with TH19 or leaks in the title are left out: no unannounced content. Links open on YouTube; this site loads only the thumbnail images from YouTube. The season calendar shows the dates of the in-game calendar as reported by at least two independent sites, named under the calendar.

How the Numbers Are Made

Cost to max a Town Hall

Everything that becomes available at that Town Hall: new building levels, extra copies of buildings (from level 1), wall pieces (count × cost per piece), hero levels, laboratory research, siege machines and pets. Equipment is counted in ore, not gold or elixir. "Timers" is the plain sum of all upgrade timers, before builders working in parallel, potions, boosts or the Gold Pass. "From one Town Hall to another" on the comparison page adds these totals up for every Town Hall after the one you have maxed, up to your goal.

Progress tracker

Every item starts at the cap of the previous Town Hall, the same assumption as "cost to max". Buildings count all copies at the same level; walls take a number of pieces already at the cap plus the level of the rest. Builder time is divided by the number of builders you set; the laboratory is one. The finish date is the later of the two, with no boosts. Levels are stored only in your browser; the progress code moves them to another device.

Best targets for books and hammers

The magic items page lists the longest single upgrades per book and hammer. Without your own levels it shows what unlocks at the Town Hall you pick; with levels from the tracker or your loaded village it shows the longest upgrades you still have up to that Town Hall's caps, and you can switch back.

Wall Rings

The wall row of the tracker also counts the Wall Rings for the pieces not yet at the cap, from the wiki's table of rings per wall level on the magic items page, read as the rings for reaching that level (it matches the wiki's note that one ring stands for 1 million gold: level 15 costs 3 million and 3 rings). Where that table has no row for a level, the tracker says so instead of guessing.

Gold Pass boosts

If you set a Gold Pass builder or research boost, each level's cost is multiplied by what is left after the boost and rounded up; its time is cut by the same share and rounded the way the game does, as the Clash of Clans Wiki's Gold Pass page describes: under 30 minutes not rounded, up to one day down to 10 minutes, longer down to the hour. The builder boost covers buildings, walls and heroes, the research boost the laboratory and the Pet House, and in the Builder Base the Star Laboratory; the setting is shared by both villages. Hero equipment ore does not change. A boost lasts one season, so the finish date assumes you have it every season.

Builder plan

The plan spreads every building and hero level that is left over your builders. Each copy of a building is its own row of levels, one after the other. Builder 1 takes the heroes, cheapest next level first; the other builders take buildings in the community order for that Town Hall (the buildings the guides do first, then the defenses in their order), then everything else cheapest first, and join in on the heroes once their buildings are done. A builder always takes the next job the moment it is free. Walls are left out because they take no builder time. The laboratory and the Pet House each get their own queue: the lab does the shortest research first, since there is no community order for the lab; the Pet House does the pets the guides pick for your heroes first, then the shortest. Level 1 of a new troop, spell or pet is free and not in the plan. The "Builders" and "Done around" tiles use these end dates.

If you pasted the export from the game, the upgrades that are running go first, each on its own builder, the lab or the Pet House, until the time the game gave them; a running upgrade the export marks as extra keeps no regular builder busy. Once that time has passed, the tracker counts the level as done. Magic items you tick go on the longest upgrade they work on (the wiki's advice), Hammers first: a Book still costs the resources, a Hammer pays them, and a Hammer cannot be used on an upgrade that is already running. Builder Potions put every builder 9 hours ahead from now, Research and Pet Potions the lab or Pet House 23 hours. Tick the helpers and the plan assumes you use them every workday: the wiki gives each helper one hour of work per 23-hour workday, at level N worth N hours on one running task. The Builder's Apprentice is spread over your builders, so with 6 builders level 8 makes them 5.8% faster on average; the Lab Assistant speeds up the lab, at level 12 by 52.2%; neither helps the Pet House. At Town Hall 18 you can include supercharges: they come after each building's maximum level, without a Gold Pass discount or magic items, because the wiki does not say whether those apply. The Builder Base page has the same kind of plan for its builders and the Star Laboratory, shortest upgrade first, because the guides give no order there. Tick the Clock Tower there and the dates assume you use every free boost as soon as its 22-hour cooldown ends: every Builder Base timer then runs faster by the wiki's relative boost for your Clock Tower level, 9.4% at level 1 up to 21.3% at level 10. Upgrades of the Clock Tower itself in the plan do not change that number. Like the Town Hall plan, the Builder Base plan can go to your calendar as a file with the next 60 days, with the Clock Tower counted if you ticked it.

Budget

Fill in what you have and what you earn per day. For each resource the tracker divides what is left (minus what a Hammer pays) by your income, and compares the longest of those with the days the builder plan needs: whichever is longer is your bottleneck. It also follows the plan's upgrades in the order they start and tells you the first moment the plan would have to wait for money, and whether the biggest upgrade fits the storage you filled in. Income is a straight line per day; loot boosts, the Season Bank and Raid Medals are not counted, and walls are in the totals but not in the plan.

Gems to skip the time

The gem tile uses the formulas of the Clash of Clans Wiki's gem calculators (Cumulative Costs page). Time costs 1 gem for a minute, 20 for an hour, 260 for a day and 1,000 for a week, in a straight line between those points and onwards past a week. Every upgrade that is left is finished on its own, after the Gold Pass boost you set; magic items, potions and helpers are not counted. Buying the resources is shown separately: Gold and Elixir from 1 gem for 100 up to 2,000 gems for 10 million, Dark Elixir from 1 gem for 1 up to 2,000 for 100,000, each in portions of a full storage (the wiki's 28 million and 460,000). The Builder Base uses the same time formula and its own resource scale. A tile to compare with, not advice to spend gems.

Levels that go up, and "by the numbers"

"Levels that go up" compares each item's cap at this Town Hall with the cap at the previous one. "Next level, by the numbers" divides the gain of the next level (DPS or hitpoints) by its cost; it is a ranking of the data and ignores what your attackers actually use.

Army, storage and production

Army housing is Army Camps × capacity at their cap; spell housing adds the Spell Factory and the Dark Spell Factory; storage adds the storages and the Town Hall's own capacity; production is collectors × rate per hour at their cap.

What Is Not Covered

  • Clan Capital layouts: the layout site these pages link to has none. The Clan Capital also has no progress tracker, because the capital belongs to the clan and is built together.
  • Builder Base attack strategies at every Builder Hall except 6: no guide or video from 2026 explains an army there.
  • Ore from events, the Trader's paid offers and Star Bonus boosts: the tracker's ore estimate counts the Star Bonus, war attacks, the Trader's free Glowy Ore and the Raid Medal trades only.
  • Base images and copy links until builders give permission.
  • Troop training: training has been free since 2023.
  • The rewards to pick from in each Clan Games tier: the wiki shows them as pictures, so the leagues and wars page has the points and Clan XP per tier only.
  • Clan XP for a Town Hall 18 base in a war: the wiki's table stops at Town Hall 17.
  • Gems to finish an upgrade early: the wiki gives no formula for it.
  • Fixed dates for Clan War Leagues and the ranked week: the wiki gives none. The Clan Games date on the calendar is the pattern of past Clan Games, not an announcement.
  • Decorations and sceneries; hero skins are only listed as text on each hero page.
  • Anything not yet in the Clash of Clans Wiki: after a game update the wiki is usually updated within days, and this site follows on the next weekly check.
